Every little boy and girl on Pern dreams of being Searched to ride one of the magnificent dragons that as long as man can remember has protected them from the dangers of the all-devouring silver Thread that falls from the skies in 50-year-long Passes with 200 years of deceptive peace between them. It has now been 195 years since Thread last fell, and a dormant volcano has become the new home for the dragons that will protect the two newest settlements in the lush Southern Continent.
Already 17 teens have discovered the joy of knitting a bond to a dragon, and are being trained to meet their ancient foe with flame when it once again returns. More will have to do so in the years to come before the start of the Pass, or not only their new home in Fireweed Weyr, but also Deep South Hold and Wherrytail Hold, the settlements they as dragonriders are sworn to protect, will be beyond saving.
But strange things are afoot. Several dragonets have hatched in colors that no dragon's hide should bear, with nobody knowing quite why. Relations between the Weyrs are getting strained, as Fireweed's ranks of dragonriders grow far slower than what its leadership was initially promised, and also, the recent deceit of Lord A'san of Deep South has soured the relationship between Hold and Weyr.

Fireweed Weyr is a friendly, relaxed, non-canon forum roleplaying game based on Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. We focus primarily on low-key interpersonal plots, and try to offer our players as much influence as possible in the direction the game takes. If you are interested but unfamiliar with the setting, both our staff and our players will be happy to help you get your bearings.
