Daphne was always ready for a fight, but now didn't seem the right time to take action. Due to contrary belief amazons didn't rush in head first to make a kill, they were smarter than that. Of course her staff had changed positions in her hand as it was across. Both her hands gripeing the harmless looking weapon.
Nice exchange of words. Daphne almost laughed at the pie and comment, then Ares appeared. She listened then too as she looked the god of war up and down. Daphne had never seen him, but she had heard of his ways. She also hadn't expected herself to find him attractive. But she did, and was. Apparently Xena had once found him that way too. From her words and action they may have had history.
"Of course he's going to take it." Daphne spoke up. "After all, everyone that you backed, not counting Xena here, has either fallen, not in a warriors fashion, or ran away with their tail tuck between their legs." Daphne smirked. "And that gives you an even worse reputation. One that makes people ask; why should I work with or for the god of war when I know I'm just going to always loose?"
Daphne reguarded Ares once more. "Though, I can understand women wanting to be by your side. You are kind of..." Daphne thought for a moment. "hot."

looking at the sword in his side
"Is that supposed to hurt?"
Stepping closer to her, with the sword continuing through his body, he got very close to her. He sniffed her hair and even ran his fingers through it...
"Your problem is that you don't appreciate a good thing when it's standing in front of you."
he quickly pushed her back, and his side healed where the sword had been...
"Silly mortals, you merely exist for our entertainment."
Pointing at Xena
"The sooner you except it the better."
He then heard the pretty blond speaking to him. Of course he checked her out and why wouldn't he? Attractive, warrior, yep... he was giving her the once over as he walked over to her.
"So you think I only back the losers do you? Has it ever occurred to you that I merely choose them because they're going to lose?"
A sly smile spread across his face
"Why would I have anyone come after my enemies that could actually win? Where would the entertainment be in watching them die? No no my precious princess, I let the minions lose, because there will always be others to take their place..."
Looking back to Xena and then to Joxer before returning his gaze to Daphne
"There will only ever be one Hercules, and one Xena and one Joxer... and so on and so forth... but there will always be some weakling crying to me to grant them something, and those fools will always do as I ask, for they know no other way."
He took a step back and smiled again and with that there was a bright light, and the sound of echoing laughter as the God vanished

"No, I just think it looks good there."
After an all too familiar action he pushed her back. "There is no good thing standing in front of me, just you."
There he goes again...monologing. While he was rambling on Xena pied Joxer again. It was fun.
"Hey Ares! Next time I see Hercules I let him know that his brother who always looses when going up against a him gave a compliment!" Xena yelled to the sky. She knew Ares heard her though he was not there. She also knew every time he went up against Hercules, his half mortal brother, Ares always got his leathered butt kicked.
"Daphne, there is one thing I'll let you in on. Ares once told me that whoever asks for his help does not deserve it. So there is a very small off chance he might be telling the truth for once."
Xena then reached out and grabbed a cup full of water from the tray of a passing waitress. "Some words from me. Duck!" Xena then splashed the water onto the Amazon princess.

"Ah!" Daphne was taken by surprise by Xena. "You think that's funny?" Pies Xena in the face as the warrior princess did with Joxer. "Ha!"

Appearing behind Ava, Ares dropped a lemon merangue pie on her head
"Comedic enough for you?"
And then he was gone in a flash...

Ava laughed. Ava tastes the pie dropped on her. "It's so tasty too." Quill in hand, parchment in the other Ava starts to write it all down, but stops as she see an attractive pie covered man. It was like Aphrodite paid a visit with a love spell. Ava runs to Joxer, wipes the pie from his face then plants a kiss on the handsome lad.

"Now that was unforseen"
Ares said to no one in particular as he watched Ava go to Joxer...

Being caught off guard by the beauty that just kissed him, it took him a bit to respond.
"Well, hello there my dear."
He said with as much charm as he could muster
"You must be new around here, allow me to introduce myself. I am the great Joxer, the Mighty. Pleasure to meet you."
He took a simple bow as he introduced himself, it was not normal for a woman that had heard of him to be so eager to get this close, and now that she knew his name he would see if she had heard the stories...

The thespian in her said to return the favor. Ava gave a curtsy. "Also known as: Joxer the Magnificent, Joxer the Deadly, Joxer the Fierce, and many other names. You're a warlord that was born in Athens, followed in his fathers footsteps sort to speak. Not as hard as he was though." Ava opens her small pack of scrolls and shows them to Joxer. "Some of these are about you. Oh, I'm Ava by the way. Traveling bard."
"I've heard the stories, told some, and even wrote down a few."

"Unforseen to us mortals but I thought you were a god, Ares."
That was just gross. Daphne looked at Xena then back to the two.
"Traveling bard? That explains it."

"Hey, no ones perfect. Besides, who would have thought a woman like that would be interested in the monster I created in Joxer?"
Ares asked Daphne as he appeared by her side.
"It's not exactly something I would do... Aphrodite would though..."
He looked around
"Aphrodite, if your here, feel free to show yourself."

"So you have heard of me."
He was not sure if that was a good thing or bad. Most people that had heard of him gave him a wide berth, but this woman had approached him and unless he was wrong, he thought she might even have been flirting with him.
"Composed a few yourself you say?"
He pushed one of his men out of a seat, brushed it off and offered it to the lady
"I'd love to hear them."
He said with a smile as he took the seat next to her, forgetting about everyone else in the room for the moment.

A look of surprise flashes across Ava's face as Joxer pushed the man out of the seat. "No wonder you got creamed with pie." Ava commented as she took a vacant seat. "You could have just asked the man to find another seat, or you could have. Politeness is less painful than people think."
Pulls out her small pack and opens it up.
"Well, I don't think it's such a good idea at the moment. Some of them are unflattering, and the news one differ from your reputation." --- (since we yet to have an Aphrodite NPC)
Girlish giggling is heard before the figure of Aphrodite appears with a golden glimmering light. "Hey, I didn't pull the love thing this time. It was my son, Cupid, and I so totally support his decision this time." Aphrodite smiled as she looked at Ava and Joxer, sliding her hands down to her waist. "I don't loose any temples, and plus they make such a cute couple. Good girl, bad boy. Oh! I just love a classic!"

"Of course you wouldn't do that." Daphne pointed to Joxer and the bard. "You like blood, guts, pain, suffering, tourment..." Daphne looked to Ares. "As far as the monster, don't you look to create others in your own image? So, if Xena finds you attractive, and I find you attractive, and other women find you attractive, why would you think it impossible for someone to fall for Joxer without your dear sisters help?"
*Aphrodite appeared and talked.*
Daphne just shrugs.
