The months of November and December a libel to be slow months with the role play as it is a time for family; among other things.
There's shopping to do; both food and gift. Decorating.
It's also the months where children have parent teacher meetings, open house, put on plays, etc. I know because one of my sisters has stuff like that going on at her school.
For a few collage students these are the months stressful exams take place, and/or you drive or fly home to see your family; that is of course if you go to a collage out of state or very far away.
But just because the board is running slow and not everyone is logging on all the time does not mean that the place is dead. During these months members get on when they have the time.
Also, depending where you live the strong cold winds can mess with the internet connection.
